KTM Introduces 350cc 390 Duke and Adventure Variants to Broaden Lineup and Lower Entry Price

KTM has expanded its middleweight lineup in India with the introduction of new 350cc variants of the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure, positioning them as more affordable alternatives to the existing 399cc models. The move is strategically aligned with the lower 18% GST bracket, helping bring down the entry price further.

The new motorcycles are powered by a 349.32cc single-cylinder engine that produces 41.5 hp at 8,600 rpm and 33.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. This represents a slight reduction compared to the 399cc LC4c engine, with about 4.5 hp less power and 5.5 Nm less torque.

Despite the smaller engine, KTM has kept most of the hardware unchanged. Both the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure in their 350cc form retain the same chassis, wheelbase, suspension setup with USD front forks and rear monoshock, ground clearance, ergonomics, and even the TFT instrument cluster and electronics package.

To differentiate between the two engine options, KTM has revised the naming structure. The 399cc versions are now referred to as the 390 Duke R and 390 Adventure R, while the new 350cc variants continue under the standard 390 Duke and 390 Adventure names.

The key advantage of the new lineup is pricing which makes them cheaper than their 399cc counterparts and even more competitively positioned against lower variants in the Adventure range. However, the narrow price gap between the bikes could potentially influence buying decisions within the lineup, as the entry into the 390 range becomes more accessible.

With this move, KTM is clearly aiming to make its 390 platform more accessible without diluting its feature set or premium positioning.

Unlike Triumph’s downsized 400 range, which replaced its older models, KTM will continue selling both engine options side by side, ensuring that performance-focused buyers still have an option at the top end.
