Jaecoo has expanded its J5 lineup in Nepal with the addition of the Jaecoo J5 Pro, bringing the electric SUV range to two variants.

The Jaecoo J5 Pro comes with a 50.7 kWh battery pack and has a claimed NEDC range of 405 km on a single charge. The standard Jaecoo J5 gets a larger 58.9 kWh battery, giving it a claimed NEDC range of 461 km.

The difference in battery capacity accounts for much of the distinction between the two versions, with the J5 Pro positioned at a lower price point.

In terms of performance, both variants produce 288 Nm of torque. They also have the same 185 mm ground clearance, while practicality is supported by a 480-litre boot. The two models further share features such as a panoramic moonroof, spare tyre and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The J5 Pro therefore retains the core specifications of the J5 while using a smaller battery pack. At Rs. 47.99 lakh, it sits Rs. 7 lakh below the standard J5, which continues to offer the larger battery and longer claimed range.

With the addition of the Pro variant, buyers in Nepal now have two versions of the Jaecoo J5 to choose from, depending largely on their preference for a lower purchase price or greater claimed driving range.
