Jetour Showroom Set to Open Soon in Thapathali, Kathmandu

Nepal’s SUV market is set to welcome a new name, with Laxmi Motorhub, under Laxmi Group, preparing to open the showroom of Jetour in Thapathali, Kathmandu.

The company had initially planned to officially introduce Jetour in Nepal at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026. However, the launch could not take place as scheduled as the vehicles had not arrived in Nepal in time for the event.

The company subsequently planned to showcase Jetour at the NADA Auto Show 2026. However, those plans were disrupted following the devastating Bhotekoshi flood, which caused extensive damage to the Rasuwa corridor. With the key China–Nepal trade route disrupted, Jetour’s planned introduction in Nepal was further delayed.

Now, the situation appears to be moving forward, with Laxmi Motorhub getting its Jetour showroom ready in Thapathali. While the company has yet to announce an official opening date, work at the location suggests that Jetour’s long-awaited entry into the Nepali market is getting closer.

Jetour is a Chinese SUV brand under Chery Holding Group, with a lineup focused on SUVs and new-energy powertrains. In Nepal, the brand will introduce plug-in hybrid models like the Jetour T1 PHEV and T2 PHEV. 

The Jetour T2 PHEV is the larger and more rugged-looking model of the two. Designed with an adventure-oriented character, the SUV features squared-off styling, prominent wheel arches and a high bonnet.

It is powered by a 1.5-litre TGDI turbocharged petrol engine combined with a plug-in hybrid system and a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). The powertrain produces a claimed 360 hp and 610 Nm of torque.

The T2 PHEV uses an 18.4 kWh LFP battery, providing a claimed electric-only range of up to 90 km under the NEDC cycle. Jetour claims a combined driving range of around 1,100 km.

The SUV also gets 220 mm of ground clearance, six driving modes and 20-inch wheels. Inside, it features a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof and ventilated seats.

Safety and driver-assistance features include Level 2 ADAS, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking and a 540-degree camera system.

On the other hand, the Jetour T1 PHEV will offer a slightly smaller alternative while retaining the brand’s rugged SUV design language.

It is powered by the same 1.5-litre TGDI plug-in hybrid setup, producing a claimed 335 hp and 530 Nm. The T1 uses a 26.7 kWh LFP battery, offering around 117 km of electric-only range under the WLTC cycle and a claimed combined range of up to 1,200 km.

Measuring 4,705 mm in length with a 2,800 mm wheelbase, the T1 offers a spacious five-seat layout. Equipment includes a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof and V2L capability.

With the showroom now taking shape in Thapathali, Jetour’s entry into Nepal appears to be entering its final stage after its earlier launch plans were affected by vehicle arrival and infrastructure-related disruptions.
