Triumph 350cc Range Launched in India with Revised 400 Platform

The middleweight motorcycle portfolio from Triumph Motorcycles in the Indian market has undergone a significant mechanical and commercial revision, with the 400cc platform now re-engineered into a 350cc configuration across key models.

The change is primarily linked to India’s taxation structure, allowing the motorcycles to benefit from the lower 18 percent GST bracket, while the company continues to retain the familiar “400” nameplate across the range.

The change in engine architecture has led to revised performance figures across the Indian range. The Speed T4 now produces 29 hp and 31 Nm compared to 31 hp and 36 Nm in its previous configuration. The Speed 400, Scrambler 400, and Scrambler 400 XC variants are now tuned to deliver 37 hp and 32 Nm, down from the earlier 40 hp and 37.5 Nm outputs.

A new addition to the India-specific lineup is the Tracker 400, which joins alongside the Thruxton 400. Both models use the revised 350cc engine in a higher state of tune, producing around 40 hp at 8,750 rpm and 32 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. These remain the most performance-oriented variants in the range, with top speeds exceeding 150 kmph.

The performance adjustments also reflect in acceleration figures. The Speed T4 now completes the 0–100 kmph sprint in 9.6 seconds, compared to 8.9 seconds previously. The Speed 400 records 8.1 seconds versus 7.4 seconds earlier, while the Scrambler 400 XC is nearly 1.5 seconds slower than its outgoing specification.

Alongside the mechanical revisions, the most significant update for the Indian market is a price correction across multiple models. Models in the range, including the Speed 400, Scrambler 400 XC, and Thruxton 400, have seen price reductions compared to their earlier positioning.

The 350cc versions will be available exclusively to the Indian market while export markets such as Nepal continue to receive the original 400cc versions.
