A group of current and former office bearers of the Nepal Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) have raised strong objections to recent moves by the association’s leadership to push NADA into a federation. They have called the decision unlawful, unilateral, and harmful to the institution’s integrity.
The members pointed out that amendments passed during NADA’s 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) had already been registered with the District Administration Office (DAO). However, they allege that the current President, General Secretary, and some office bearers have been acting in violation of the association’s bylaws and prevailing laws.
Stay Order From DAO
The DAO has issued a stay order against the amendment process intended to advance the federation agenda. Despite this, the members claim the leadership has continued to pressure committee members, demand resignations, and take arbitrary decisions.
“Running NADA as someone’s personal fiefdom is unacceptable. Such actions only harm the collective interests of the association and its members,” the statement read.

AGM Bypassed
As per the bylaws, NADA must convene its AGM within six months of the fiscal year’s end. With only four months remaining, the leadership has instead announced a Special General Assembly for September 9, 2025 (Bhadra 24, 2082 BS). Critics argue the move is aimed at bypassing the AGM and extending tenure.
The members warned that pushing such a major agenda at the end of the leadership’s term, without broader consensus or clear justification, risks jeopardizing NADA’s legitimacy.
