BYD has surpassed Tesla to become the top-selling electric vehicle (EV) brand in Australia, with 743 deliveries in April. The BYD Sealion 7 was Australia's best-selling EV in April. The company also secured two spots in the top 10 with the Atto 3 and Seal models.
The BYD Sealion 7, which is also set to launch in Nepal after the budget of the new fiscal year, is a high-performance, fully electric SUV featuring BYD's advanced Intelligence Torque Adaption Control (iTAC) and its innovative Cell to Body (CTB) technology. This technology integrates BYD’s Blade Battery as a structural component of the chassis, improving both safety and performance while enhancing cabin space, handling, and range.
In our market, the Sealion 7 will likely be available with an 82.56 kWh battery and two trims: Premium and Performance. The Performance trim can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, while the Premium trim takes 6.7 seconds. In terms of range, the Performance variant offers 542 km, while the Premium offers 567 km, based on NEDC testing.
The Performance trim delivers 390 kW of power and 690 Nm of torque, while the Premium trim offers 230 kW of power and 380 Nm of torque. The SUV measures 4,830 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,930 mm, providing generous interior space and a solid design.
The interior is equipped with a flat-bottomed, four-spoke steering wheel, a crystal gear selector, physical controls for essential functions, a 50-inch AR-HUD, and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen.
The Sealion 7 also introduces BYD's DiPilot 100 “God’s Eye” ADAS, which includes 12 ultrasonic radars, 5 mm-wave radars, and 11 cameras for advanced L2 driver assistance. This system supports lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warnings, traffic sign recognition, and intelligent speed control.
Charging is fast, with the Sealion 7 reaching 10-80% in just 25 minutes. The SUV’s dimensions are 4,830 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, with a 2,930 mm wheelbase. It also features a 58-liter frunk and a 500-liter boot.
