Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer Leapmotor has reached a major milestone, rolling out its one-millionth car and becoming the second startup in the country to achieve this production level. The accomplishment underscores the rapid scale-up reshaping China’s electric vehicle industry.
The Hangzhou-based company announced that the millionth vehicle rolled off the production line just 343 days after reaching the 500,000-unit mark, setting a record pace among domestic NEV brands.
Leapmotor founder and CEO Zhu Jiangming described the milestone as evidence of “accelerating momentum,” noting that while it took five years to reach 500,000 vehicles, the next half-million was completed in less than a year.

Leapmotor delivered over 320,000 vehicles in the first eight months of 2025, topping sales rankings for Chinese NEV startups for six consecutive months. The company also reported its first net profit for the year’s first half, alongside record gross margins, signaling that its strategy of in-house development and “technology for all” is paying off.
Founded in 2015, Leapmotor designs and manufactures core components—including batteries, electric drives, and central computing systems—internally, covering roughly 65% of vehicle costs. Initially focused solely on battery electric vehicles (BEVs), the company expanded to extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) in 2023.
Its current Chinese lineup includes the T03, B10, B01, C01, C10, C11, and C16, with select models offering both BEV and EREV options.
Global expansion is driving growth, with Leapmotor operating in over 30 overseas markets including Nepal and nearly 700 sales and service outlets—including 640 in Europe. Over 30,000 vehicles have been delivered abroad this year, and in August, the company surpassed BYD to lead Germany’s pure-electric vehicle market.
In our market, Leapmotor currently offers three models: the premium C10 SUV, the B10 compact SUV, and the T03 city hatchback.
