Changan Automobile will strategically integrate its two primary New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brands, Avatr and Deepal, according to IT Home. The announcement was made by Chairman Zhu Huarong during the company’s “1445” Global Strategy briefing.
Zhu confirmed that the integration will streamline mid-to-back-end operations—including R&D, supply chains, and manufacturing—by the end of 2026.
Under an “independent front-end, collaborative mid-to-back-end” structure, both Avatr and Deepal will retain their distinct brand identities, product portfolios, and sales channels.
However, shared backend infrastructure is expected to reduce operational costs by 20% to 30%. Zhu also emphasised a “three no-changes” principle: the group’s overarching strategy, individual brand positioning, and existing user rights will remain unaffected.
The integration supports Changan’s push to strengthen its mid- to high-end NEV portfolio. By 2030, the automaker targets combined annual sales of 1.5 million units from the two brands.
Deepal will focus on the USD 20,730–41,460 segment, aiming for 1 million units annually, while Avatr will target the premium USD 34,550–96,740 range with a goal of 500,000 units.
The move comes as Changan accelerates its global expansion under the “1445” strategy, which targets 5 million total annual vehicle sales by 2030.
NEVs are expected to contribute over 60% of that volume, with international markets accounting for more than 40%. This follows a strong 2025 performance, where Changan delivered 2.91 million vehicles globally, including 1.11 million NEVs—a 51.1% year-on-year increase in its electric segment.
In Nepal, both Deepal and Avatr have already established a growing presence. Deepal currently offers the S05, L07, S07, and E07, while Avatr has introduced the Avatr 11—marking its early push into the country’s premium EV space.
