Nepal’s automotive market is gradually shifting toward electric mobility, with consumers showing increased interest in alternatives to conventional fuel-powered vehicles.
Factors such as environmental awareness, rising fuel costs, and global trends in sustainable transportation have contributed to this shift. Within this context, the Geely EX5 has emerged as a noteworthy addition to Nepal’s EV segment, introduced locally by LRR Motors Pvt. Ltd..
The EX5 represents a mid-size electric SUV that combines performance, safety, and technology. Its 160 kW electric motor provides smooth power delivery and brisk acceleration, allowing it to reach 100 km/h in approximately 6.9 seconds—figures that are competitive within its category.

Powering the EX5 is a 60.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) short-blade battery developed by Geely Holding Group. Known for durability and thermal stability, the battery has undergone multiple safety tests, including needle-penetration evaluations.
It is rated for roughly 3,500 charge cycles, which could translate to a potential lifespan approaching one million kilometers, and it carries an eight-year or 200,000-kilometer warranty.

The interior emphasizes digital integration and driver convenience. The cabin features a 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and a heads-up display.
Features such as wireless charging, voice-command capabilities, and customizable software functions create a technology-focused environment that aligns with the expectations of modern vehicle users. Comfort and usability are also addressed through amenities like ventilated and heated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium audio system.

Safety remains a key aspect of the EX5’s design. The SUV includes multiple airbags, anti-lock braking with electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability control, hill-assist systems, autonomous emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. It has earned five-star ratings from both Euro NCAP and ANCAP. Built on the GEA 3.0 architecture, the body structure is designed to optimize rigidity and crash energy absorption.
The EX5 also reflects broader global adoption trends. Since its launch, the model has surpassed 210,000 units in sales worldwide, with 100,000 delivered within seven months in its home market of China. It is now available in more than 26 international markets, including regions across Southeast Asia, Oceania, Europe, and Latin America.
In Nepal, the vehicle attracted attention during the NADA Auto Show 2025, where it recorded 187 bookings over six days. The interest demonstrated by visitors highlights growing consumer awareness of electric vehicles, particularly in terms of battery technology, range, and interior features.

To meet demand, LRR Motors has expanded its dealership network to cities including Butwal, Biratnagar, Narayangadh, Pokhara, and Nepalgunj, with further expansions planned.
Pricing positions the EX5 in Nepal’s mid-to-upper EV segment, with the EX5 Pro starting at Rs 58 lakh and the EX5 Max priced at Rs 68 Lakh. This places the vehicle within a competitive range of imported electric SUVs while reflecting its focus on technology, safety, and usability.
Reflecting on the model’s arrival, Adhir Shrestha, Head of Sales and Operations at LRR Motors Pvt. Ltd., stated: “Geely EX5 represents a new standard of intelligent, safe, and sustainable mobility. At LRR Motors, we are proud to introduce a global-class electric SUV that perfectly matches the aspirations of modern Nepali automobile buyers.”

More broadly, the EX5 exemplifies Nepal’s gradual transition toward electric mobility. As charging infrastructure develops and consumer familiarity with EV technology grows, such vehicles influence expectations around safety, performance, and long-term reliability.
Their presence also has implications for the wider market, potentially encouraging further investment in EV-related services, service networks, and local expertise.
In this context, the EX5 is not merely a new model on the road; it is part of a larger evolution in Nepal’s automotive landscape, reflecting the growing attention to technology, sustainability, and changing consumer priorities.
