Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Spotted Ahead of September 4 Launch in India

Royal Enfield is bringing the Himalayan 411 nameplate back with a new 440cc model, and the motorcycle has now appeared at a dealership in India ahead of its September 4 launch.

Visually, the new motorcycle remains familiar, retaining much of the Himalayan 411’s rugged design. New paint schemes and graphics are expected to help set the 440 apart from the older model.

The upcoming Himalayan 440 is expected to share its mechanical package with the Scram 440. At its core will be a 443cc air/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine developing 25.4 bhp and 34 Nm, paired with a six-speed transmission.

Despite sharing its engine and basic platform with the Scram, the Himalayan 440 gets a more adventure-oriented setup. The motorcycle spotted at the dealership features a 21-inch front wheel, up from the Scram 440’s 19-inch unit.

It also uses wire-spoke wheels with tubed tyres, while the suspension is expected to offer more travel for better performance over uneven surfaces.

The cockpit has also been given a simpler layout. The bulky four-pod arrangement seen on the Himalayan 411 has been replaced by an analogue speedometer with a compact LCD display. A separate Tripper unit sits alongside it for turn-by-turn navigation. Royal Enfield could also offer a version without the navigation pod.

The Himalayan 440 is expected to slot below the Himalayan 450 in Royal Enfield’s adventure motorcycle range, offering a less complicated and potentially more affordable option.

Royal Enfield is expected to reveal the complete specifications, variants and pricing when the Himalayan 440 officially debuts on September 4.
