This year's NADA Auto Show has another surprise too—an amphibious off-road vehicle that promises to redefine rugged mobility.

GECOMO SMV Pvt. Ltd., a part of JSW Defence & Aerospace and based in India, is showcasing the JSW Sherp SMV 1200, a rugged and versatile amphibious vehicle, at the upcoming NADA Auto Show 2025. The vehicle is based on the original Sherp design, which is Ukrainian-engineered by the company Sherp, headquartered in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Powered by a robust 1.8-liter Doosan 3-cylinder diesel engine, the Sherp SMV 1200 delivers 55 horsepower and 190 Nm of torque through a 6-speed manual transmission. This powertrain enables the vehicle to achieve a maximum speed of approximately 40 km/h on land and around 6 km/h when navigating water bodies.

Its distinctive ultra-low-pressure tires not only allow it to traverse rough terrains such as mud, snow, sand, and rocky surfaces but also provide amphibious capabilities, enabling the vehicle to float and move seamlessly across lakes, rivers, and marshes. The tires are designed for self-inflation using exhaust gases, ensuring optimal performance in changing conditions.

The Sherp SMV 1200 is engineered to overcome obstacles up to one meter in height and is capable of climbing onto ice and floating over water, making it invaluable for disaster relief, mining operations, energy sector applications, and search and rescue missions.

Its rugged galvanized steel frame, paired with an aluminum cabin, ensures high durability without sacrificing mobility or weight. Additionally, the vehicle offers impressive payload and towing capabilities—able to carry up to 1,200 kilograms and tow nearly twice that—making it highly practical for transporting equipment and supplies in challenging environments.

Fuel efficiency and endurance are other standout features of the Sherp SMV 1200. With a total fuel capacity of up to 327 liters, stored partly in tanks integrated into its wheels, the vehicle boasts an operational autonomy of up to 65 hours under continuous use and can operate nonstop for up to 19 hours.

This long-range capability, combined with 24/7 global support and a two-year or 1,000 operational hours warranty, positions the Sherp as a cost-effective and reliable alternative to helicopters and other heavy-duty machinery.

The Sherp's design emphasizes versatility, featuring skid-steering for exceptional maneuverability and customizable seating configurations that cater to diverse operational needs. This adaptability makes it a vital asset not only for government and defense but also for commercial sectors requiring dependable off-road and amphibious solutions.

With its emphasis on extreme terrain mobility solutions, GECOMO SMV is poised to enhance the NADA Auto Show 2025 experience by unveiling the Sherp SMV 1200—at a show already set to dazzle visitors with cutting-edge innovations, from flying cars and humanoid robots to amphibious vehicles.
