The all-new MG S5 electric SUV is set to make its debut in the Nepalese market soon, bringing cutting-edge technology, segment-first features, and an attractive price point.
As the successor to the popular MG ZS EV, the S5 promises an enhanced driving experience with its superior platform, ultra-thin battery, and tech-laden cabin.
Platform and Performance
Built on the same Modular Scalable Platform as the MG4 electric hatchback and the Cyberster electric roadster, the MG S5 boasts a rear-wheel-drive layout and independent suspension—features that significantly improve handling, stability, and comfort. The MG S5 is also the first in its segment to offer this suspension setup, ensuring a smooth and dynamic ride.
In terms of powertrain, all three variants of the MG S5 will be powered by a 99 kW electric motor. The entry-level model comes with a 49.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering an impressive WLTP range of 340 km.
Meanwhile, the higher-spec 62.2 kWh variant extends the range to 430 km. The EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just under 7.1 seconds and has a top speed of 175 km/h, making it one of the most exciting EVs in its class.
Best-in-Class Battery Technology
The MG S5 features the thinnest battery pack ever seen in Nepal, measuring just 110mm in thickness. Developed in collaboration with CATL, a global leader in battery manufacturing, this ultra-thin pack not only enhances the car’s sleek design but also optimizes interior space. The battery has also passed the rigorous nail penetration test, ensuring top-tier safety and durability.
A Tech-Savvy Interior
Inside, the MG S5 offers a premium cabin with state-of-the-art features. The SUV is equipped with a massive 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a panoramic sunroof (available in higher trims). The inbuilt iSmart system further enhances the driving experience by integrating popular apps such as TikTok, ChatGPT, Spotify, and YouTube, keeping passengers entertained and connected on the go.
A Spacious and Stylish SUV
With dimensions of 4476mm in length, 1849mm in width, and 1621mm in height, along with a wheelbase of 2730mm, the MG S5 offers a roomier cabin compared to its predecessor, the MG ZS EV, and even its closest competitor, the BYD Atto 3. This translates to more legroom, improved comfort, and a bold road presence.
Pricing & Availability
The MG S5 EV is expected to be available for bookings soon, with an estimated price of below Rs 49 lakh for the 49.1 kWh Comfort variant, while the other two higher-spec variants will fall between Rs 50-60 lakh. Given its superior features, advanced technology, and competitive pricing, the MG S5 is set to redefine Nepal’s electric vehicle market.
