Laxmi E-Mobility, a subsidiary of the Laxmi Group, has announced it will introduce the Chinese electric vehicle brand Forthing to the Nepali market at the upcoming NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025. The vehicle will be unveiled at the exhibition organized by the Nepal Automobile Import & Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), scheduled for August 6–10 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.

Forthing, a brand under China’s Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., will enter the local market with a premium electric SUV. The vehicle is expected to feature a 64.4 kWh battery, a 99 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor, and an estimated range of over 400 km per charge—specifications that place it within range of several other EVs currently available in Nepal.

Laxmi Group, one of Nepal’s largest conglomerates, has been active in the automotive industry for decades, distributing brands such as Hyundai, BMW, Kaiyi, and SML ISUZU. In May 2024, the group inaugurated Nepal’s first four-wheeler assembly plant in Ramgram, Nawalparasi, under the newly formed Laxmi Motor Corporation. The facility currently assembles Hyundai vehicles and is part of a broader push toward domestic vehicle production.

In parallel with its automotive operations, Laxmi E-Mobility has also been expanding EV-related infrastructure. Its RE-Lax recharge network now includes over 63 locations across Nepal, providing both charging and vehicle servicing facilities.

While Laxmi E-Mobility has not disclosed the official name or price of the incoming Forthing model, company representatives say more details will be released at the NAIMA event. The five-day exhibition is expected to be the country’s largest automotive showcase to date, with a particular focus on electric mobility and smart transport systems.

Forthing’s entry adds to a growing list of Chinese EV manufacturers seeking a foothold in Nepal’s competitive electric vehicle market. The arrival is seen as part of a wider shift in the automotive industry as more companies invest in electrification and local assembly.
