2026 BYD Seagull/Atto 1 Launched in China With Segmet-First LiDAR Technology

BYD has officially launched the 2026 BYD Seagull/Atto 1 in China with major updates in technology, design, and features.

The biggest highlight is the introduction of the optional “God’s Eye B” (DiPilot 300) system, which brings LiDAR-based intelligent driving assistance to an entry-level EV for the first time.

The updated Seagull also receives subtle exterior changes, including new color options, revised LED taillights, and 16-inch “Starlight” wheels. It measures 3,780 mm in length with a 2,500 mm wheelbase, keeping it firmly in the compact city EV segment.

Powering the vehicle is a 55 kW electric motor with 135 Nm of torque, enabling 0–50 km/h acceleration in 4.9 seconds. Two battery options are offered: 30.08 kWh with a 305 km range and 38.88 kWh with a 405 km range.

Inside, the cabin features a new "Oatmeal Rice” theme, a 12.8-inch floating touchscreen with DiLink 150 system, and added convenience features such as wireless charging, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver seat.

Safety and assistance tech include driver monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and advanced recording functions.

The Seagull remains one of BYD’s strongest-performing models in China, having sold over 529,000 units in 2025, but it now faces increasing competition from models like the Geely Xingyuan, and Leapmotor A10 in China’s rapidly evolving compact EV market.
