Volkswagen has unveiled the first look at the design of its upcoming entry-level electric model, offering a sneak peek into the brand's future EV lineup.
The concept car for this new model is set to be revealed to the public in early March, while the official world premiere of the production version is slated for 2027.
Positioned beneath the Volkswagen ID.2all hatchback, this new electric vehicle is expected to be named either ID.One or ID.1. The vehicle will likely be a five-door model, and it will be part of a larger initiative that includes the debut of nine new models by 2027, expanding Volkswagen's global all-electric vehicle range.
This entry-level Volkswagen EV will be built on the MEB platform, which is designed specifically for electric vehicles. To keep costs competitive, it will likely feature a single-motor configuration paired with a compact battery pack.
Additionally, the same platform and powertrain will likely be shared with entry-level electric models from Skoda and Seat, which are aimed at the European market, further enhancing Volkswagen’s strategy for affordable, mass-market electric vehicles.
