New IM LS6 Revealed in China With Chassis and Cabin Upgrades

IM Motors has revealed the new-generation LS6 electric SUV in China, featuring a slightly revised exterior design along with upgraded chassis technology, improved cabin features and enhanced performance. 

The LS6 is particularly relevant to Nepal as the model is sold here as the MG IM6. The current-generation MG IM6 was launched in Nepal in July 2025 and is distributed by Paramount Motors Pvt. Ltd.

The new LS6 has opened for pre-sales in Max, Pro Max and Ultra variants, priced at 209,900 yuan, 229,900 yuan and 264,900 yuan respectively. IM Motors says the SUV received more than 8,000 pre-orders within the first 45 minutes of pre-sales.

Visually, the new LS6 retains the overall shape of the existing SUV while receiving revisions to its exterior design. The updated model continues with a sleek profile, flush door handles and a low-set front design, while the changes are accompanied by upgrades underneath the body and inside the cabin.

One of the biggest changes comes in the chassis. The new LS6 gets an 800V electrical platform as standard, along with steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire and four-wheel steering. The four-wheel-steering system offers up to 18 degrees of bidirectional steering capability, while IM Motors claims a low-speed turning radius of 4.79 metres.

The range starts with the rear-wheel-drive Max, which uses a 76 kWh battery and has a claimed CLTC range of 650 km. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.

The Pro Max also uses rear-wheel drive but gets a larger 93 kWh battery. It offers a claimed CLTC range of 782 km and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.

The range-topping Ultra uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with a 103 kWh battery. It has a claimed CLTC range of 750 km and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.48 seconds. The Ultra also gets air suspension and electronically controlled adaptive damping.

Inside, IM Motors has focused on improving comfort and technology. The new LS6 can be equipped with a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a driver's seat with 4D mechanical massage, a 15.6-inch front passenger entertainment screen and a refrigerator with heating and cooling functions.

The SUV also introduces IM Motors' IM Claw AI agent, which integrates Alibaba's Qwen large language model and AI agent ecosystem. The new LS6 also features the IM AD Zeta driver assistance system as part of its updated technology package.

In Nepal, the current MG IM6 uses a 75 kWh LFP battery with a 109 kW rear-mounted motor producing 450 Nm. It offers a claimed range of up to 505 km NEDC or 450 km WLTP and is currently priced at Rs 81.99 lakh. The Nepal-spec model also gets ADAS features, 20-inch wheels and MG's iSMART connected-car system.

The new-generation LS6 therefore brings a significant technical update. However, IM Motors has not confirmed when the new model will enter international markets or whether it will eventually be introduced in Nepal as the next-generation MG IM6.
