NADA Urges Government Relief for Auto Businesses Hit by Rasuwa Floods

The Nepal Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) held discussions with the Department of Customs regarding the damage and challenges faced by the automobile sector following the recent floods in Rasuwa.

A delegation led by NADA President Surendra Kumar Upreti met with Director General of the Department of Customs Yam Lal Bhusal on September 23, 2026, to discuss the impact of the devastating floods in Rasuwa and the resulting losses to the automobile industry.

During the meeting, President Upreti highlighted the damage caused by the floods in Rasuwa, Timure and surrounding areas.

He said that a large number of vehicles imported from China ahead of the Dashain festive season were being transported through the Rasuwa border, with many of them swept away by the floods. Upreti urged the government to implement relief and support measures for the affected importers as soon as possible.

NADA Secretary General Milan Babu Malla also raised concerns over the more than 500 vehicles currently stranded on the Chinese side of the border due to the closure of the China-side customs point. He requested the Department of Customs to facilitate the movement of these vehicles.

Malla further pointed out that 11-seater electric microbuses have yet to be cleared through customs and requested the authorities to take necessary steps to resolve the issue.

Responding to the concerns, Director General Bhusal said that the government is currently working on a framework to determine what facilities and concessions can be provided to businesses affected by the floods.

He said discussions and preparatory work are underway among the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Ministry of Home Affairs to finalize the modalities.

NADA Vice Presidents Abhik Jyoti and Bikram Singhania, along with Secretary Meghraj Paudel, were also present at the meeting.
