Maruti Suzuki has announced that its first all-electric SUV, the eVitara, will be launched in India on September 3, 2025. First revealed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the eVitara marks the company's entry into the electric vehicle segment.
The eVitara will be offered with two battery configurations. The first is a 49kWh battery paired with a front motor that produces 144 horsepower and 189Nm of torque. This setup is positioned for shorter, urban-focused driving. The second variant includes a larger 61kWh battery, delivering 174 horsepower with the same torque figure. This version is expected to offer a real-world driving range of over 500 kilometers on a full charge.

An all-wheel-drive version will also be available. This configuration includes an additional 65hp rear motor, resulting in a combined output of 184 horsepower and 300Nm of torque. The AWD model is designed to handle varied driving conditions, including uneven terrain and highway use.
Inside, the eVitara features a digital cockpit with a twin-deck floating console, ambient lighting, and soft-touch interior materials. It includes a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster. The vehicle supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and comes with a Harman audio system. Additional features include ventilated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and rear seats that recline and slide, with a 40:20:40 split for flexible cargo access.

In terms of safety, the eVitara is built on a chassis made with more than 50% high-tensile steel. The battery pack includes integrated protection features. The vehicle is equipped with seven airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag, and comes with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This includes features like lane assist and autonomous emergency braking. All-wheel disc brakes, an electronic parking brake (EPB), a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and an emergency call (e-Call) system are also standard.

To support the eVitara's rollout, Maruti Suzuki plans to include a home charging unit with full installation support for every buyer. Additionally, the company is developing a fast-charging network across 100 Indian cities. Charging infrastructure will be placed at intervals of 5 to 10 kilometers along major travel routes. The company also intends to establish 1,500 EV-ready service centers across more than 1,000 cities nationwide.

The eVitara measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. Its direct competitors in the market are expected to include the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv.ev and Mahindra BE.6.
