Leapmotor, the Chinese EV start-up backed by Stellantis, has unveiled its next major product, the D19 SUV. Positioned above the brand’s current lineup, the D19 will mark Leapmotor’s entry into the premium large SUV space, offering three-row seating and a more luxurious design philosophy.

The D19 will be the first model in the company’s new D-Series, joining the smaller B-Series and mid-size C-Series. Leapmotor’s China lineup currently features the T03, B01, B10, C01, C10, C11, and C16. In our market, the brand is offers the T03 hatchback, the B10 compact SUV, and the C10 full-size premium SUV.

Design-wise, the D19 follows Leapmotor’s signature minimalist styling, with sleek strip lighting, flush door handles, and clean surfaces. However, the upcoming SUV will also bring upscale touches like large chrome-style wheels. Flaps on both sides of the body suggest the presence of a range-extender hybrid variant, alongside a fully electric version.

One of the standout features of the D19 is its advanced electronic architecture, powered by dual Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 processors. One chipset is expected to manage cockpit functions, while the other will handle autonomous driving and driver-assistance features. This dual-chip approach represents a major technological leap, putting the D19 in direct competition with established premium players.

The flagship SUV is expected to launch in China around October 2026, with mass production beginning in early 2026 and customer deliveries scheduled for the first half of the year. According to Chinese sources, pricing could start at around RMB 300,000 (£31,000 / $42,100).

At present, Leapmotor has not confirmed whether the production model will be officially called the D19 or D16.
