Hyundai is set to unveil a nearly-ready small electric vehicle (EV) concept at the Munich Motor Show in September.

The first official teaser images, released yesterday, provide an early glimpse of the upcoming model, though many technical details remain under wraps. The production version is expected to be a subcompact EV, potentially carrying the Ioniq 2 or Ioniq 3 nameplate.

The teaser images reveal a modern design with full-width LED light bars on both the headlights and taillights, as seen on the facelifted Hyundai Ioniq 6 sedan. The EV appears to adopt a chunky fastback/hatchback silhouette with an integrated ducktail spoiler, offering a sporty yet practical stance.

The rear spoiler takes cues from the updated Ioniq 6 in both shape and size, likely pairing with a full-width LED taillight. Hyundai plans to release two additional sets of teaser photos before the official unveiling, which should provide a clearer view of the exterior design.

Similarly, camouflaged prototypes of the new Hyundai EV have been spotted online, showing a shape consistent with the teasers. While the concept will likely feature a unique bodykit and different wheels, the prototypes suggest the model may adopt an upright, slightly SUV-like style.

Positioned between the Hyundai Ioniq EV and Kona Electric, the new EV aims to fill a growing niche in Hyundai’s electric lineup. It is expected to feature front-wheel drive with battery options around 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh, providing a WLTP range of approximately 418 km and 587 km, respectively.
