Hero MotoCorp Gears Up to Enter UK and Europe with Electric and Premium Motorcycles

Hero MotoCorp, India’s biggest two-wheeler manufacturer, is getting ready to take a major leap—this time into the UK and European markets. Starting as early as September this year, the company plans to officially begin operations in countries like Germany, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom. 

Leading the charge will likely be the Vida Z, an electric scooter that was unveiled last year. It's expected to be the first Hero product to go on sale in these new markets, paving the way for a future lineup that could also include larger, more premium motorcycles.

Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp, called this expansion the next big step in the company’s vision of “Mobility without Boundaries.” In the company’s latest annual report, he said, “We’re not just investing in the future of mobility in India—we’re also bringing our vision to the world.”

To lay the groundwork, Hero has been steadily building its presence in Europe. It already operates a technology center in Germany and has partnered with distributors across the region: Pelpi International in Italy, Noria Motos in Spain, GD France in France, and MotoGB in the UK.

While Hero already exports to 48 countries, international sales currently make up just 5.7% of its INR 40,756 crore revenue from FY2024. That means there’s a huge opportunity for growth—and Hero seems determined to seize it. The company saw a strong 43% year-on-year jump in exports last fiscal, thanks to growing demand in South Asia and Latin America.

On the electric side, Hero’s Vida brand is also picking up speed. Sales of its e-scooters grew by a staggering 200%, backed by a wider retail presence and rising interest in electric mobility.

Beyond products, Hero MotoCorp is investing in future-forward ideas. Through initiatives like “Hero for Startups,” it’s mentoring young entrepreneurs, giving them access to R&D, and helping them bring their ideas to life.
