BMW Motorrad has officially revealed the production-ready F 450 GS at EICMA 2025, a year after its concept debut in Milan. The new model marks BMW’s entry into the mid-size adventure segment and will be manufactured in India at TVS Motor’s Hosur plant, continuing the partnership that already produces the G 310 range.

Powering the motorcycle is a new 420cc parallel-twin engine producing 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. BMW claims a top speed of 165 km/h and a 0–100 km/h time of 5.9 seconds. The motor is paired with a six-speed transmission that sends power to a left-mounted chain drive, while the Shift Assistant Pro quickshifter enables clutchless gear changes on all trims except the base model. It can also be retrofitted later.

One of the key technologies in the new F 450 GS is the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) — a centrifugal clutch that automates clutch operation depending on engine speed, offering smoother starts and greater comfort, especially in off-road conditions.

The F 450 GS sits on a new tubular steel frame, designed for rigidity and agility. The short wheelbase gives it more responsive handling, while KYB suspension components provide control both on- and off-road. Higher-spec variants get adjustable forks and shocks. The bike rolls on cast alloy wheels — 19-inch at the front and 17-inch at the rear — with tubeless tyres, while cross-spoke wheels are available through BMW’s accessories range.

Styling-wise, the F 450 GS adopts an X-shaped LED daytime running light, a design cue inspired by the flagship R 1300 GS. It also features full LED lighting, a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, and standard heated grips. Riders can choose between Rain, Road, and Enduro riding modes, with Enduro Pro available from the Exclusive variant onward.

BMW will offer four trims — Base, Exclusive, Sport, and Trophy — each with specific suspension settings and equipment levels. All versions feature adjustable levers and a well-balanced riding position aimed at comfort and control.

If priced right, the BMW F 450 GS could be the most capable adventure motorcycle in its segment.
