BMW has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio in Nepal with the launch of the all-new BMW iX2 eDrive20, priced at NPR 1,79,96,000.
With this addition, BMW now offers three electric models in the country—the BMW iX1, iX3, and the new iX2—strengthening its presence in the premium EV segment. This new electric SUV brings a modern design, performance-focused features, and premium technology to the Nepalese market.
The BMW iX2 eDrive 20 is powered by an electric motor that produces 150 kW (204 PS) of power and 250 Nm of torque. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds, while its top speed is rated at 170 km/h. With a 66.5 kWh high-voltage battery, the iX2 offers a WLTP-certified range of 430 to 475 km, ensuring long-distance travel capability without frequent recharging. Energy consumption is efficient, rated between 15.4 to 17.2 kWh per 100 km
The iX2 eDrive20 is offered with the M Sport package, featuring exclusive M Sport exterior components, the striking BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille, and satin aluminium finishes. The exterior mirrors include electrochromic glass, electric folding, automatic parking functions, and courtesy lights that project the BMW logo on the ground.
Driving dynamics are a key highlight, thanks to Adaptive LED headlights with multiple lighting modes including cornering lights, junction lighting, motorway beam pattern, high-beam assist, and BMW Selective Beam. The iX2 also features BMW’s My Modes, allowing drivers to switch between Personal, Efficient, and Sport driving styles. Performance Control further enhances the SUV’s agility and responsiveness.
In terms of safety, the iX2 is comprehensively equipped with front, side, and head airbags, as well as an integrated braking system that includes Dynamic Brake Control, brake pad wear indicators, an electromechanical parking brake, and Drive-off Assistant for hill starts. The Attentiveness Assistant actively monitors driver alertness and suggests breaks on long drives.
Inside, the iX2 offers a refined cabin experience. It comes with Vernasca Mocha leather upholstery, sport seats for both driver and passenger, a panoramic glass roof, a luxury instrument panel, and Aluminium Hexacube Pale M interior trim. Additional comfort features include automatic 2-zone air conditioning, acoustic glazing for noise insulation, and Comfort Access for seamless entry and start.
On the tech and entertainment front, the SUV features a Harman Kardon HiFi sound system with 12 speakers and a digital amplifier. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional combines a fully digital instrument cluster with a high-resolution curved display. A Head-Up Display projects driving information directly onto the windshield, while features like wireless charging, automatic tailgate, and pre-ventilation enhance day-to-day usability.
The iX2 rides on 19-inch M light-alloy wheels (Double-spoke style 871 M Bicolour) and includes a tyre pressure monitoring system and a tyre repair kit. In terms of dimensions, it measures 4554 mm in length, 1845 mm in width(2104 mm including mirrors), and 1560 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2692 mm. Boot space stands at 525 litres, expandable to 1400 litres with the rear seats folded.
For charging, the iX2 supports AC charging up to 11 kW and DC fast charging up to 130 kW, making it suitable for both daily commutes and long-distance travel. It also supports a towing capacity of 750 kg (braked or unbraked) and a roof load of up to 75 kg, catering well to families and adventure seekers alike.
