Bajaj Auto has expanded its electric scooter portfolio with the introduction of the new Chetak 3001, priced at INR 99,990. Replacing the previous Chetak 2903, this model becomes the most accessible offering in the brand’s EV range. It is now built on the updated chassis platform first introduced with the Chetak 35 series.
The Chetak 3001 benefits from the same chassis as the Chetak 35 series, which allows it to offer a class-leading 35-litre underseat storage—significantly more than its predecessor. This space boost is largely due to the repositioning of the larger 3.0kWh battery pack, now mounted on the floorboard.
Bajaj claims a range of 127km on a full charge, though it’s not specified whether this figure is based on real-world conditions or a standardized test cycle. In actual use, the range is expected to come around 100km. A 750W charger is provided as standard with the scooter, capable of charging the battery from 0 to 80% in 3 hours and 50 minutes.
Despite this quick charging capability, Bajaj has not disclosed detailed powertrain specifications such as the motor’s output or the scooter’s overall dimensions. However, the top speed is reported to match that of the Chetak 3503 at 63 kmph.
The Chetak 3001 is equipped with a circular colour LCD display, similar to the one on the Chetak 3501. However, it omits some premium features like keyless start and a lockable glove compartment, opting instead for a traditional key and open storage spaces. The scooter also comes with drum brakes at both ends and retains Bajaj’s signature full-metal body.
For users seeking additional smart features, Bajaj offers an optional TecPac. This software add-on unlocks capabilities like call and music control, hill-hold assist, a reverse light, auto-flashing tail-light, and 'Guide Me Home' lighting functionality.
With its affordable price tag, the Chetak 3001 becomes not only the most affordable model in the Bajaj EV family but also a compelling alternative to many petrol-powered 125cc scooters in the market.
