Suzuki has introduced a special edition Jimny to mark the iconic off-roader’s 55-year legacy. Dubbed the Jimny 55th Anniversary Edition, this exclusive variant is limited to just 55 units—all of which have already been sold—and is available solely in the French market.
Launched as both a commemorative tribute and a final send-off in Europe, the anniversary model arrives at a time when tightening emissions regulations have led to the gradual discontinuation of the Jimny across the continent. After being pulled from markets like Germany and much of the EU by mid-2024, the Jimny is making a brief return in France in this celebratory, limited-run form.
First introduced in 1970, the Suzuki Jimny quickly earned a loyal global following thanks to its compact size, rugged build, and dependable off-road capability. Over the decades, more than three million units have been sold, solidifying its reputation as a go-anywhere mini SUV. This anniversary edition reflects on that journey while hinting at possible future iterations—potentially electric—if Suzuki aims to align with evolving environmental standards.
The Jimny 55th Anniversary Edition is distinguished by several nostalgic design cues and exclusive accessories. It features a vintage-style Suzuki grille, nostalgic side graphics, and a soft spare tire cover adorned with the iconic rhino symbol long associated with the Jimny. Other details include rubber floor mats in both the cabin and boot, and red Jimny-branded mud flaps on all four wheels.
Inside, buyers receive a commemorative plaque on the center console denoting the edition number, as well as a matching key ring and a leather-bound travel journal meant to capture memories made on the road. As a bonus, Suzuki is also offering each owner a complimentary 4x4 training course to help them make the most of their Jimny’s off-road capabilities.
Mechanically, the limited-edition Jimny retains its proven 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It is available in four colours—White, Jungle Green, Medium Gray, and Bluish Black.
While this edition marks the end of the Jimny’s run in Europe, the vehicle continues to live on in other global markets, including ours, where a five-door version is currently on sale. For now, the Jimny 55th Anniversary Edition stands as both a tribute to its rich past and a teaser for what could come next in Suzuki’s off-road journey.
