Geely has unveiled the plug-in hybrid version of its Riddara RD6 electric pickup truck in China, known locally as the Radar King Kong EM-P. This model will be sold globally as the Riddara RD6 EM-P. Equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, it delivers 260 kW (349 hp) and offers a total hybrid driving range of up to 1,068 kilometers.
Originally launched in 2022 as an independent brand under Geely, Radar began its journey with a single product: the RD6 electric pickup. For over two years, the lineup remained unchanged until December 2024, when Geely reintroduced the RD6 as the Radar King Kong in the domestic market.
In terms of design, the RD6 EM-P looks similar to the all-electric RD6. The standard version features dimensions of 5,260 mm (length) × 1,900 mm (width) × 1,865 mm (height), with a 3,120 mm wheelbase. A longer-wheelbase variant stretches to 5,500 mm with a 3,310 mm wheelbase, providing extra utility without altering the core design.
Inside, the RD6 EM-P accommodates five passengers and includes a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. Built on the MAP modular platform, which is derived from Geely’s SEA architecture, the pickup also boasts a payload capacity of up to 1,000 kg.
Under the hood, the RD6 EM-P features a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a thermal efficiency of 44.26%, mated to a 3-speed DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission) and two electric motors. The combined output is a robust 260 kW (349 hp) and 914 Nm of torque, allowing the pickup to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 6.3 seconds (or 8.6 seconds when fully loaded).
The RD6 EM-P also features four off-road driving modes: snow, mud, sand, and off-road. It can conquer 45-degree inclines when unloaded, and 33-degree inclines when carrying a full payload. Its turning radius is 6.1 meters, making it relatively maneuverable for its class.
The hybrid pickup is powered by a 19.09 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which provides up to 100 kilometers of electric-only range under the CLTC cycle. Combined with its 60-liter fuel tank, the RD6 EM-P can travel up to 1,068 kilometers in hybrid mode.
Utility is further enhanced by its V2L (vehicle-to-load) capability, offering 3.3 kW of output, suitable for powering external appliances and tools. Additionally, the RD6 EM-P supports V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging, delivering up to 21 kW, allowing it to function as a mobile power station.
In terms of fuel economy, the Riddara RD6 EM-P consumes just 1.5 liters per 100 kilometers in hybrid mode. Once the battery is fully depleted, fuel consumption rises to 6.4 L/100 km, maintaining its efficiency edge over conventional pickups.
