Great Wall Motor’s electric brand Ora has confirmed that its first SUV, the Ora 5, is set to make its debut on September 25, in China.
The name was chosen through a public poll launched by Ora brand general manager Lu Wenbin on September 12. Options included Ora Cat, Ora 5, and Ora i5, with Ora 5 receiving the highest votes. Lu said that combining the brand name with a number is simple, globally recognizable, and provides a consistent naming approach for future models.

The Ora 5 continues the brand’s retro-inspired design. It features oval headlights, a closed-off front fascia, and a larger lower intake with side ducts for a sporty look. A panoramic glass roof is standard, while a solid roof is optional. Some trims will also offer roof rails and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. At the rear, the Ora 5 has a wide, curved tailgate with rounded lines and can carry either a GWM or Ora badge.

Power comes from a 150 kW electric motor developed by GWM subsidiary Hycet, paired with a lithium iron phosphate battery from SVOLT (Honeycomb Energy). Battery capacity details are not yet revealed, but homologation documents confirm a top speed of 170 km/h.
The Ora 5 is positioned above the Ora Good Cat, placing it in the compact SUV segment. It measures 4,471 mm long, 1,833–1,844 mm wide, 1,641 mm tall, with a 2,720 mm wheelbase, making it larger than the Good Cat and comparable to the MG S5 EV.
