Toyota has officially unveiled the all-new sixth-generation RAV4, marking a major evolution in the model’s legacy. Renowned for its versatility and reliability, the RAV4 returns with enhanced performance, electrification, safety, and digital features tailored for the modern era.
Since its debut in 1994, the RAV4 has earned the trust of over 15 million customers globally. With the launch of the sixth-generation model, Toyota builds on this strong foundation to deliver a vehicle that is more capable, efficient, and intelligent than ever.
The sixth-generation RAV4 showcases a bold new exterior with a robust front design and dynamic silhouette that reflects its authentic SUV heritage. Inside, the cabin has been redesigned to offer intuitive controls, a sense of spaciousness, and refined premium comfort for all occupants. A new model logo adds further distinction, reinforcing the vehicle's identity.
A major highlight of the new RAV4 is the debut of Toyota’s Arene software development platform, which enables over-the-air updates, advanced safety features, and a next-generation digital experience. Arene powers the latest Toyota Safety Sense technologies, offering features like Front Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Vehicle Approach Indicator, and Lane Change Assist. The system enhances driver awareness and convenience while aiming to eliminate accidents.
The new RAV4 will be available in as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) or full hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). Underpinning the PHEV version is a newly developed plug-in hybrid system that features a high-capacity 22.7 kWh lithium-ion battery—sourced from Toyota’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) development—and an upgraded front motor now delivering 150 kW.
This enables a pure electric driving range of up to 100 km (WLTP combined) and a combined total system output of 304 hp, enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 5.8 seconds. The battery supports fast charging via a 50 kW DC charger, allowing a 10–80% charge in approximately 30 minutes, and an 11 kW AC charger for home or public charging, reducing charge times to around 3 hours.
Toyota also introduces a front-wheel-drive PHEV variant for the first time, offering 268 hp for customers seeking enhanced efficiency at a more accessible level. In the full hybrid configuration, improved components including the transaxle, power control unit, and battery enable better responsiveness and acceleration, with the AWD-i version delivering 191 hp and the FWD version 183 hp.
The GR Sport version of the sixth-generation RAV4 brings motorsport-inspired design and dynamics to the lineup. It features a wider tread, high-performance dampers, strengthened suspension, and tuned steering for a more engaging drive. Exclusive styling elements such as 20-inch black alloy wheels, a distinctive matrix grille, sports seats, and red interior accents highlight its Toyota Gazoo Racing DNA.
Inside, the sixth-generation RAV4 debuts a new digital ecosystem. A 12.9” home screen provides a customizable, user-friendly interface, while a 12.3” digital combimeter integrates 3D lane guidance and real-time navigation. The system supports Google Points of Interest, LEZ alerts, and other real-time data to assist the driver. A responsive voice assistant handles navigation, climate, and media, and ongoing updates ensure the system remains current.
Beyond the cabin, the MyToyota app gives users access to digital services including remote functions, Smart Digital Key+, music streaming, and a drive recorder. The all-new RAV4 also features geo-fencing technology, which optimizes EV usage based on real-time traffic, driver habits, and environmental zones.
The sixth-generation RAV4 is expected to launch in Japan before the end of FY2025. With cutting-edge hybrid systems, intelligent software integration, and a renewed focus on sustainability, the new RAV4 reaffirms Toyota’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
