Paramount Motors Pvt. Ltd., the authorised distributor of MG Motor in Nepal, has launched the MG U9 EV at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, marking the brand’s entry into Nepal’s premium electric pickup segment. The U9 is offered in Luxury and Flagship variants, priced from Rs 98.99 lakh to Rs 1.10 crore.
Positioned as a high-performance electric lifestyle pickup, the MG U9 combines a dual-motor four-wheel-drive powertrain with a large battery, advanced technology and practical utility features.
The U9 is powered by a dual-motor 4WD system, comprising a 125 kW front motor and a 200 kW rear motor, producing a combined 700 Nm of torque. MG claims a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 5.8 seconds, while the top speed is rated at 190 km/h.
The pickup uses a 102.2 kWh LFP battery pack with a claimed WLTP range of up to 430 km. It supports 115 kW DC fast charging and features 6.6 kW external Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality.
The U9 also gets 230 mm of ground clearance and a claimed 550 mm water-wading depth, with the dual-motor setup providing four-wheel drive for improved traction on challenging terrain.
Utility is another key aspect, with the electric pickup offering a 685 kg payload capacity and 3,500 kg braked towing capacity. Its 3,300 mm wheelbase also provides a spacious cabin.
Inside, the U9 features a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-speaker JBL audio system. Other features include leather upholstery, a heated microfibre leather steering wheel and 64-colour ambient lighting. The higher-spec Flagship variant adds an 8-way electrically adjustable driver's seat with ventilation, massage and memory functions.
Interestingly, the MG U9 EV is essentially a rebadged and slightly restyled version of the Maxus eTerron 9, which is already available in Nepal.
Both models are developed under SAIC Motor, MG’s parent company, and share the same platform, drivetrain and core engineering. The differences are primarily in styling, interior trims and feature packaging, with MG positioning the U9 as a more lifestyle-oriented alternative.
