Leapmotor has officially launched the Lafa 5 (B05) hatchback in China, marking its entry into the rapidly growing compact electric hatchback segment. The model will begin expanding to international markets from 2026, positioning itself against compact EVs like the MG4 and the BYD Dolphin.

Built on the LEAP 3.5 Architecture B platform, the Lafa 5 measures 4,430 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,520 mm in height, along with a 2,735 mm wheelbase. Its design carries a clean EV identity with a sealed front fascia, frameless doors, a sporty roof spoiler, and a full-width LED tail-light bar featuring bold Leapmotor branding.

Inside, the minimalist cabin centers around a 14.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen paired with an 8.8-inch digital cluster. The interface runs Leapmotor OS 4.0 Plus powered by Qualcomm’s 8295P chip and integrates dual AI assistants, a 12-speaker audio system, ambient lighting, ventilated seats, and a panoramic glass roof.

The rear-wheel-drive hatchback is offered with two motor outputs—132 kW and 160 kW. Depending on the variant, top speed ranges between 160 km/h and 170 km/h, while the quicker version sprints from 0–100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.
Two LFP battery choices are available: a 56.2 kWh unit rated at 515 km CLTC and a 67.1 kWh pack providing up to 605 km. Fast-charging support allows the battery to go from 30% to 80% in about 18 minutes.

Higher trims also receive LiDAR-based driver assistance powered by the Qualcomm 8650 chip with 27 sensors enabling Leapmotor Pilot safety features. A more aggressive Lafa 5 Ultra, featuring sportier styling and larger aero components, is scheduled for release next year.
At launch, Leapmotor introduced five variants in China—515 Plus, 515 Pro, 515 Max, 605 Pro, and 605 Max—with a promotional starting price of RMB 92,800, down from the earlier planned RMB 105,800. Performance varies by trim, with the base version using a 132 kW motor and the remaining models equipped with the higher-output 160 kW unit.

With chassis tuning carried out by Stellantis’ European engineering team, the hatchback also emphasizes a sporty, engaging driving feel.
In Nepal, Leapmotor’s lineup currently includes the C10 SUV, B10 compact SUV, and T03 city hatchback. Introducing the Lafa 5 could further strengthen the brand’s presence by offering a stylish, long-range electric hatchback aimed at younger, tech-savvy urban buyers.
