Great Wall Motor’s electric sub-brand Ora has unveiled the Ora 5, marking its long-awaited entry into the compact electric SUV segment.
After years of silence in China’s fast-evolving EV market, Ora returns with its first mass-production SUV, combining a fresh design language with advanced driver-assistance features.
The Ora 5 retains the brand’s familiar “cat family” styling but adopts a more SUV-focused form. Measuring 4,471 mm in length, 1,833/1,844 mm in width, and 1,641 mm in height with a 2,720 mm wheelbase, it is notably larger than the Ora Good Cat.

Technology is the main highlight of the new model. A roof-mounted LiDAR unit, paired with front, side, and rear cameras, supports GWM’s third-generation Coffee Pilot Ultra system, which enables urban and highway Navigation on Autopilot (NOA).

Inside, the cabin is minimalist yet premium, featuring large fabric panels, a digital instrument display, and a central infotainment screen powered by Coffee OS 3.0 with AI integration.
Other features include a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, column-mounted shifter, wireless charging, foldable rear seats, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a 1.65-square-metre panoramic glass roof.

Power comes from a 150 kW (201 hp) single motor paired with an LFP battery supplied by SVOLT. While official battery capacity and range figures are pending, the setup is expected to be similar to the Ora Lightning Cat sedan, which offers packs of 63.87 kWh and 83.49 kWh with CLTC ranges of up to 705 km. The Ora 5 weighs between 1,540 and 1,655 kilograms and reaches a top speed of 170 km/h.

As Ora’s first new model in years and its debut SUV, the Ora 5 is set to compete with popular compact EVs such as the BYD Atto 3 and the Geely Galaxy E5.
