BYD’s Yuan series, known globally as the Atto 2 (Yuan Up) and Atto 3 (Yuan Plus), is set to expand with a new electric SUV, reportedly called the Yuan Max.
Spy photos from China show the SUV undergoing road tests in camouflage, revealing a front fascia similar to the Yuan Plus and featuring the brand’s signature Dynasty series design elements, including elongated headlights and a large trapezoidal front intake.
The Yuan Max will likely sit between the Yuan Plus (Atto 3) and Song Plus (Sealion 6) in BYD’s lineup. It comes with semi-hidden door handles, conventional side mirrors, roof racks, blind-spot monitoring cameras on the fenders, and a slightly curved roofline.
The SUV is expected to use BYD’s latest entry-level EV powertrain, similar to the Sealion 05. This includes a 140 kW (188 hp) rear-mounted electric motor with a 50 kWh LFP battery for 430 km of range under CLTC testing. A more powerful variant could offer 160 kW (215 hp) with a 60.9 kWh battery for 520 km.
As the largest model in the Yuan lineup, the Yuan Max is poised to strengthen BYD’s global EV portfolio.
