Chinese New Energy Vehicle leader BYD has marked a major milestone as its 14 millionth new-energy vehicle (NEV) rolled off the line at its Camaçari plant in Bahia, Brazil, on October 9, 2025.
The vehicle — a Song Pro plug-in hybrid SUV — was presented to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who attended the ceremony.
The event was also attended by Brazilian Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin, Chinese Ambassador Zhu Qingqiao, and BYD Chairman and CEO Wang Chuanfu. BYD has operated in Brazil for over 11 years, with more than 170,000 NEV owners in the country and leadership in Brazil’s new-energy vehicle market for two consecutive years.

The Camaçari facility, inaugurated on July 1, 2025, represents a $1 billion investment and aims to produce 150,000 NEVs annually in its first phase, with plans to expand to 300,000 units in future phases.
BYD currently operates six overseas plants, including in Thailand, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, and Cambodia, highlighting its global expansion strategy.
BYD reached its 10 millionth NEV milestone in November 2024 and achieved 14 million less than a year later, highlighting rapid global growth.
